First two lists for project
I wasn't sure how to start this project, the initial idea I had for a list '10 tips on surviving uni' felt very cliche and not very personally reflective, and although it stemmed from one of the lists I'd made in PPP a few week prior, it all seemed very stereotypical. The types of things I was listing were very broad and although this would have made them relatable to my peers, I didn't feel I myself was getting anything from it.
My second list idea was '10 years to destress from uni work'. This list felt a lot more personal and included a lot of things I enjoy not only doing but illustrating as well. I feel as though I would be able to illustrate some less conventional things for this idea in comparison to my previous idea.
For the final practical work I thought about maybe displaying the final illustrations as bunting. And while this was a nice idea through scamping it became apparent it was quite difficult to make illustrations that felt dynamic and interesting while sticking to the triangle format.
I also feel unsure in terms of tone of voice with this project. With my last hand in, Context of Practice, I loosened up a lot compared to how I would perhaps otherwise work, I also feel like my final pieces of SP; Persons of Note was too tight and therefore lacked a lot of that initial spark and charm that a lot of my scamps had. This is something I need to consider with these final 10 illustrations; what do I want to say? What do I want my illustrations to look like? To loosen up or try more tight-knit illustration? What illustrations am I interested in making? How do I want to develop? With this being a module largely focusing on self reflection I want my final illustrations to reflect my own tone of voice and where I want to take it for next year, but that is currently proving quite difficult.
